Amateur Radio Technician License Class - A Resounding Success!
Our Technician license class, held the weekend of May 21 - 22 in conjunction with the Vero Beach Amateur Radio Club, was a great success. We had 11 participants in the class, and when the testing was over, 9 had passed. Congratulations to all of our newly licensed Technicians! Hopefully we'll see you soon at a regular monthly VE testing session ready to upgrade to General (or even Extra!)
Ham Radio...Getting the message through for your family and community. According to FEMA, in a major emergency you and your family should plan on being totally on your own for up to four days! Without electricity, Internet, phone (and maybe 911 calls), how will YOU communicate? Becoming a Ham radio operator allows you to talk directly with other hams because each station is fully independent and can operate without any other infrastructure. You can assist your community and send messages to family in other areas.
Our services are being requested by a lot of local agencies and we are in need of operators, if you would be willing to volunteer your time and make a difference in your community please contact us!
If you are interested in learning more please attend our meeting on the on the second Wendsday of the month at 7:00pm in the new Indian River County Emergency Operations Center located at 4225 43rd Ave, Vero Beach, FL. MAP
